How to Deep Clean Your Bedroom

Your bedroom is a place where you feel most relaxed after coming from a long day. But when your room is not clean and cluttered it will make you feel more chaotic rather than helping you to unwind after a long day. A clean room will make you feel relaxed and peaceful. If you are looking to deep clean your room, here are a few tips on how you can achieve that. Our cleaning experts at Maid O Matic are here to provide you house cleaning services in Albuquerque

Clear Out Clutter

Clearing out the clutter is the first step for a deep clean. Going through your closet, drawers and any storage and clearing things out that you no longer need can be a tedious job, but it is also necessary to make your space look cleaner and organized. You will be surprised at how much more space you will have after you have cleared out the things you don’t need.

Make two piles while clearing unwanted things out. One that is good enough to donate and one that can’t be donated and must be tossed. Anything that is sitting in your room collecting dust whether it is some old papers, bills, or decorative items that have no purpose left should be removed. This step also helps you to find items that you thought you had lost or misplaced.

Wash Bedding and Curtains

The bedding and curtains should be washed from time to time. A lot of people tend to forget that the ruffles on your bed, curtains, your comforter, pillowcases all these beddings collect dust. These are washable and should be washed at a high heat setting. Remove your linens and all the bedding and wash them in the washing machine. Check wash instructions on your throw pillows and pillows to see if they are machine washable. To wash the curtains read the wash instructions, some can be machine-washed, and some can't.

You will be amazed at how fresh and clean they look after a good wash cycle. It is also hygienic to wash them at least twice a year so that all the dust, pollen, and odors can be cleaned out and they are fresh and clean to be used in your room.

Vacuum and Dust

After clearing out the clutter and washing your sheets vacuuming is important to clean out all the dust, hair, and basically, dirt in general that enter the room. Do not forget the vacuum neglected areas of your room like corners of the floor, any upholstered furniture you have in your room, bookshelves, and any area that can be collected. Use different attachments of the vacuum to clean out the dust from different surfaces. Look for any spider webs to be cleaned out. Pay attention to places such as crevices and vents where might find spider webs.

Besides vacuuming use a microfiber cloth for places where vacuuming can’t be done. For example, the hanging rods in the closet, inside of your drawer, doorframes, windowsills, top of your furniture, or any other place that your vacuum couldn’t reach. If you have ceiling fans in your rooms wipe out the blades with a microfiber cloth as they tend to collect a lot of dust as well.

Clean Under the Bed

Don’t forget all the dark spaces in your room like under the bed. Out of sight is out of mind. Usually cleaning underneath is neglected because it can’t be seen. To give your room a proper deep cleaning, clean all the dust and debris from there as well. Take out the stuff from there and you could simply vacuum. If you haven’t used storage bins and baskets with lids for storage under the bed, consider using them. Using storage bins with lids to store items under the bed does not let dust collect on your belongings over time.

Disinfect and Clean Hard Surfaces

Use a microfiber cloth and some disinfectant spray or wipes to clean all the hard surfaces in your room. You will notice that furniture, headboards, nightstands, lamps, electronics, bulbs, light switches basically all these small, neglected areas collect dust and should be disinfected from time to time. Do not use any disinfectant spray for your electronics, lights, switches, and bulbs instead use a disinfectant wipe to wipe down these areas.

Use a glass cleaner to clean your mirrors and glass of the windows. Instead of a cloth use paper to wipe the glass cleaner out and then you can go ahead and use a microfiber cloth to buff dry the glass.

Organise Your Room

Do not forget to take out the trash can and disinfectant and clean out the trash can that also. Put any socks or dirty laundry lying around in the laundry basket. After cleaning out all this you can now move on to the last step which is tidying and organizing your room. Organize your cupboard. Fold all the clean clothes that need to be folded and hand all the clothes that need to be hung. Organize your books neatly on your bookshelf. Put away your electronics in their places. Make your bed with the freshly cleaned bedding that you just washed. Arrange all the throw pillows on your bed. Tidying up very small and little things like aligning your bed organizing your items in and on your nightstand, and lining up your shoes, will make a lot of difference in how your room looks.

Enjoy Your Fresh Sanctuary

Enjoy and relax in your deep clean room. Appreciate all the hard work you did to completely clean your room from top to bottom. You will notice that you will feel much more relaxed and refreshed in a clean room that is free of any dust or odor. You can maintain this vibe of your room by making sure that you clean all the crooks and crevices of your room from time to time. Your bedroom is where you relax and recharge after a day of hard work so it should be clean and organised. A clean bedroom always helps you get a night of quality sleep and promotes better immunity.
