What Albuquerque Does to a House

The dust never really stops. We sit at 5,300 feet in high desert, and fine grit finds its way in through every window and door — worse in spring, worse again on wind days. It settles on horizontal surfaces first, which is why every visit starts with high dusting and works down: fans, vent covers, door tops, then everything below.

The water is hard. Albuquerque’s water leaves mineral spots on shower glass, faucets and fixtures faster than most cities. We squeegee glass rather than wiping it, and fixtures get polished dry — spots come from water left sitting, not from the tap.

Monsoon season tracks in. July through September, afternoon storms turn dirt to mud and it comes in on shoes and paws. Entryways, hard floors and baseboards take the brunt, and it’s the season where a weekly or every-two-week visit earns its money.

Saltillo, brick and stone need care, not muscle. Plenty of Albuquerque homes have sealed Saltillo, brick or stone floors, and the wrong product strips the sealer and dulls them permanently. We use pH-neutral cleaners on sealed floors and stone counters — never vinegar, never lemon, never anything acidic or abrasive.

Pollen has a long season. Juniper, elm, mulberry and cottonwood keep the air busy most of the year. Regular dusting with a cloth rather than a dry pass that just relocates it, vacuuming with a real filter, and wiping touch points is what actually reduces what is in the air indoors.

Minimum Labor Hours on Deep and Move-Out Cleanings

Deep, initial, move-in and move-out cleanings start at a minimum of 8.5 labor hours, whatever the size of the home. Labor hours are the combined working hours of all cleaning technicians — one technician for 8.5 hours, or two technicians for 4.25 hours each. It does not mean a crew is inside your home for 8.5 clock hours.
